Proskine Family Farms

We cultivate heritage olives using sustainable practices to create award-winning olive oil

Our Story

Proskine Family Farm is fondly known to locals as the “Egg Farm” as it once was the leading purveyor of organic free-range eggs to the Monterey Peninsula.  Previously owned by Bill and Dotty Dick, who ran and operated the Carmel Valley Poultry Ranch, the property at one point produced more than 1,000 dozen eggs daily and served nearly 100 local restaurants, hotels, families, and grocery stores.

Today the property is the idyllic setting for our family run olive orchard and farm.  Proskine Family Farm is in the heart of Carmel Valley on just under 10 fertile and level acres bordering the Carmel River.  Our farm has over 200+ fruit and olive trees, seasonal row crops, some livestock for rotational grazing (including a cow named Dotty to honor the Dick Family), and of course, a few chickens.  This farm is a sanctuary for our family of five that exists in harmony with nature.  We believe in and maintain sustainable farming practices, land stewardship, a meaningful connection to our community through the people we engage with, and a strong commitment to biodiversity.  My wife Jenny and I have three young boys who love our farm – Wyatt, Tanner, and Bowen.  We are teaching our boys to value what this place represents and to pursue a deep sense of connection to the food they eat and the people that produce it locally.  Jenny and I are passionate about sharing our love and awe of nature with our precious young boys.

We are very proud of the olive oil that we produce and the integrity in which we care for and steward our land.  We work with our hands, use organic products, and listen to the experts – namely Jesus Aguilar who is our trusted caretaker and “el jefe” of the farm.  Jesus has worked tirelessly and passionately on our farm for over a decade and is committed to the quality of our products.  He knows each individual tree intimately well and tends to our orchard with patience and consistent care.

Our artisanal olive oil recently won the Best In Class “Most Robust” award and a Gold Medal award from the California Olive Oil Council (“COOC”) who recognizes olive oil producers from throughout California for their excellence.  This is awarded to only a few producers in the state of California and is a strong endorsement of the quality we produce each year.
